Similor AG’s history began in 1846 when very few Swiss homes had running water, let alone a bathroom. That year Henri Jean Charles Kugler opened a small foundry in Lausanne where he produced brass products, oil and petroleum lamps.
In 1854, at the age of 32, he officially established the Kugler company, and thus laid the foundation stone for a unique story in Swiss corporate history.

Similor achieves a high point in faucet manufacture with its development of the Ecototal and Ecototal+ cartridges, launched in 1997 and 2003 respectively. Their hot water and volume restraint reduces water and energy consumption by up to 30%. The added benefit of Ecototal+ is that the lever is set to cold in its home position, so that no hot water or energy is wasted unintentionally.

Aesthetic beauty takes centre stage after the rigours of the war years. Similor captures the spirit of the times and designs the Silux range. A quality faucet that impresses with its harmonious lines and three or four-arm handles.
Despite a series of extensions the Coulouvrenière factory premises are still too small. Charles Kugler, the oldest son of Jean Kugler, builds a large modern factory in the Geneva district of La Jonction. From this point onwards, precious chrome steel establishes itself in the manufacture of faucets.

The jury of the 1st Swiss National Exhibition in Zurich awards Kugler with a silver medal.
Kugler moves to Geneva and settles in the Coulouvrenière district in 1870. Kugler is the first company in Switzerland to produce water and gas faucets.
Kugler is awarded a bronze medal at the 3rd Swiss Industrial Exhibition in Bern.
After founding a casting workshop for brass products (incl. oil and petroleum lamps) in Lausanne in 1846, Charles Kugler establishes the Kugler company aged 32.
